Worlds Oldest Steinway Grand Piano Now For Sale

San Antonio, Texas - When Harold Krueger received the letter with the good news from Steinway & Sons, he couldn’t believe it. Steinway & Sons, established in the 1800’s and known as the makers of the world famous Steinway Grand Piano, launched a worldwide search to find the oldest intact Steinway piano.

After an intensive global search, the Krueger’s piano located in San Antonio, Texas, was officially found to be the winning entry. The piano has been in the same family since purchased brand new, in Chicago, in 1859. Handed down from generation to generation, Krueger noted that children were not allowed to play the instrument, thus its impressive showroom condition.

Realizing that they owned the oldest Steinway grand piano to be found anywhere was quite a surprise for the family. Little did they know that the meticulous way the instrument had been cared for all these years would pay off in a big way.

As Krueger explains, “This is the musical equivalent of the Hope Diamond.”

It is interesting to note that while, another similar piano exists at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC, that piano does not have the original inner workings. Thus, the contest winning piano is indeed the oldest known intact (original parts) Steinway piano in the world.

With the value of the concert grand estimated in the millions, the Krueger’s seek to find a buyer that will give it the care it deserves. Thus, now the search is on for the new owner of the world’s oldest Steinway Grand Piano.

Young Chang Piano help…I have a normal push up against wall piano..?

I have a Young Chang that I can push up against the wall. The problem is, is that one of the key hammers aren’t hitting the strings. I have noticed that all the keys have this black thing under the hammer, which when the key is hit, the black thing that stays under the the hammer pushes the key up while slightly coming out of the bottom of the hammer. One of the keys on the Treble side of the Piano has a completely different look. The black thing stays out, which causes the hammer to barely move, I hit the key and the black thing doesn’t push the hammer up, instead it stays out and isn’t under the hammer at all. If someone knows what I am saying, please help!
The piece is the Hammer Butt Felt…

I just got this piano and i would like to know a little about it! It is an upright piano, stands about 5 1/2 feet tall. When you open the top it says “The Opera Piano New York” inside it. uuummmm, oh, the whole front kind of like pushes out twords you….Im just wondering if anyone has one like it. Thanks….oh, inside it I found a little reciept that said it was “tuned” in 1982!!!
